The Greek Football Federation have confirmed Fernando Santos is to succeed Otto Rehhagel as national team coach.
Rehhagel stood down last week following Greece's elimination from the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ at the group stage after guiding the country to an unprecedented period of success in his nine-year reign, highlighted by their astonishing title success at UEFA EURO 2004.
Santos, who has signed a two-year deal, is well established in Greek football having had coaching stints at Panathinaikos, PAOK Salonika and AEK Athens in the last decade.
The 55-year-old resigned from PAOK in May after leading the club to a place in next season's UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.
