Radomir Antic has been given the backing of the Serbian Football Federation (FSS) and will remain on as national coach despite his team's first-round exit from the FIFA World Cup™.
After a meeting on Thursday, the FSS said they wanted "to continue working with Radomir Antic . . . Despite the negative results in South Africa, cooperation with Antic has never been in question." The FSS added: "Evaluating results obtained is one thing and putting in place a longer term plan is another."
Antic, who has been in the post since 2008, had expressed his determination to continue in the job. "By signing an agreement with the federation, I accepted a task and I don't intend to give it up," he said.
Serbia finished last in Group D, after losing to Ghana (0-1) and Australia (2-1) and beating Germany (1-0).
